Bypassing sign-in errors for Library databases

Please use the following directions to bypass the warning errors that are appearing when signing into Library databases. This uses a login system known as Shibboleth, which is in the process of being updated (Fall 2020).


Instructions

  1. When logging into the Library databases for articles and journals, you should see this screen. Click Login with NCSSM Credentials.

  2. You should see a warning regarding your connection not being secure, or private, or an error that a secure connection could not be made (this message will vary based on your browser).

  3. Depending on your web browser of choice, follow these instructions to bypass the warning and sign in:

    1. Google Chrome:

      1. Click on the Advanced button.

      2. Click on Proceed to shibboleth.ncssm.edu.

      3. If prompted to reconfirm form submission, click Continue.

    2. Mozilla Firefox:

      1. Click on Enable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 button.

      2. Click the Resend button on the prompt that appears.

    3. Apple Safari:

      1. Click on Show Details button.

      2. Click on visit this website link.

  4. Once you have followed these steps, the login page should appear, and you can log in using your NCSSM account name and password.
